Here is the ORIGINAL Marriage Certificate whereas Union Soldier HIRAM H. McCANCE (? - 1899) married ELVIRA 'Gailry' McCANCE (1847-1910) on the 21st day of January, 1864. This Marriage document is signed by: JAS. A. REED, Pastor of Presbyterian Church of Wooster, Ohio.
NOTE: The printed/written Marriage document shows his LAST name spelled as "McCLAUCE" but official Union Army records (and "Find-A-Grave" info) shows his last name spelled as "McCANCE"
Records show:
HIRAM H. McCANCE enlisted with the 120th Ohio Infantry Co. "D" as a Private Union soldier around August 29th, 1862.
Hiram H. and Elvira 'Gailey' (1847-1910) had 3 children: Albert (1871-1943); Mary Helen 'McCance' Taggert (1877-1954); and Lura Lucile 'MCance' Kilgore (1887-1974).
Hiram and Elvira are both buried in the Fredericksburg East Side Cemetery in Fredericksburg, (Wayne Co.), OHThe size of this Marriage Certificate is: 8.5' by 3' inches and in very GOOD condition. The "Stamp Tax" paid here is shown with a 5-cents tax stamp (image # 10).
