Ames Civil War Model 1860 USN US Naval Officers Cutlass Sword - 1862:

US Civil War Model 1860 USN Naval Cutlass. The ricasso is faintly/partially marked "Ames Mfg. Co." over "Chicopee." over "Mass", the reverse has ""U.S.N.", "D.R.", 1862.", the quillon area is marked "22 M" over "552", and the top edge of the pommel cap has another "D.R.". The grip is tight. The guard is loose because it is not connected to the pommel and has a break that almost goes all the way through. The cup hilt has been removed. The grip is 95% complete. The blade is unsharpened, several nicks, age spots scattered throughout, some light pitting, minor surface rust spots, and there is a bend about 5/8" up from the tip. Length of the blade is 26" (1 3/16" wide x 5/16" thick), and the sword is 31 13/16".
*The red color on the blade is just reflection, there is no red on the blade.
