This antique French M1831 sword is an original piece manufactured by Talabot, of Paris, France. A popular item among antique sword collectors, the M1814 "Glaive des Troupes a Pied" was modelled after the Roman Gladius, exemplifying the Classical ideas of the day.
Like other French sword designs, this model inspired models used in other countries, including the US M1832 for Foot Artillery and NCO's as well as a US Navy cutlass.No scabbard. Mild patina from aging. Solid and tight. Original counterpolish still evident. In really nice shape. Ren Waxed and ready to be shipped.
