1796 HC officer saber blade engraved to the 3rd Prince of Wales Dragoon Guards. HC officer saber with a Portuguese but British made troopers hilt marked to dragons of evora unit, a cavalry unit that was equiped with British weapons in peninsular wars. Both the Portuguese heavy cavalry regiment and 3rd dragoon guards fought at the battle of Albuera where most likely a British officers hilt was damaged in combat then repaired with the Portuguese marked British troopers hilt. Everything is fairly tight and actually feels good in hand. The 35 inch blade shows heavy signs of being serviced sharpened. The spine is marked with an arrow. The peen is clearly aged with patina and is true to the napoleonic period.
