An absolutely fantastic gold GAR Presentation Badge. Engraved on the reverse to W L Harrod. Note the 17th corps badge.
Harrod served in the 32nd Ohio Infantry for the entire war. The 32nd fought against Jackson in the Valley, Grant’s Vicksburg Campaign, the Atlanta Campaign (where Harrod was captured), Sherman’s March to the Sea, and the Carolinas Campaign.
After the war Harrod was a member of GAR Post 451, J.M. Wells in Columbus. Where he served as post commander and was awarded this medal by his fellow veterans.
On 8/31/1861, he mustered into "C" Co. Ohio 32nd Infantry.
He was Mustered Out on 7/20/1865 at Louisville, KY
