Civil War Lafayette County Missouri Cavalry Militia 1862 Muster Roll Document:

This is a very rare handwritten document from 1862 where an officer kept a register of all the men that were part of his Cavalry militia and what happened to them. Many of these men are not even listed on current Civil War records. It is large, 22x17 in, written completely on both sides in alphabetical order.
The men listed on this document include 4th, 9th, 16th and 46th Missouri Cavalry as well as some Confederate infantry units. The latter me must have defected. I have been told, but have not confirmed, this represents men from Lafayette County, Missouri, near St. Louis.
This is the type of document that is seldom found in private collections. It would not be surprising to see a museum purchase it. They just do not come up for sale and are much more rare than letters. The information on this document alone would be enough to start a book on this group of men. Don’t miss this chance!
