Cold War OPFOR plastic helmet cover Soviet Army:
Own a Cold War Artifact!
During the Cold War the US Army dressed a number of soldiers up in simulated Soviet uniforms to 'fight' US units in the field. These 'Soviet' soldiers were called "OPFOR" (Opposing Forces). This helmet cover fit over a US M-1 helmet liner and looked just like a real Warsaw Pact helmet.
This is a real piece of Cold War history, when the US and USSR were poised to fight a battle for Europe. The OPFOR program is still around, but they no longer simulate the Soviet Army.
One of the latches is worn down, but the helmet cover does still fit on a US helmet liner.
