Really massive, broad-bladed and hefty:
OL= 25¼″ Blade= 19.5″ T/spine = 10+ mm ( ⅜ - 7/16″) W=1⅝″ at the widest
Unsharpened edge. No pitting. No scabbard. Original point.
Genuine rich brown patina is commensurate with age: original, authentic patina. Never saw any cleaning attempts.
Blade has classic Falchion shape: broadened towards the tip.
All tight and solid into the hilt.
PROVENANCE: purchased years ago at a military antiques life-sale in NE USA.
Overall: Design elements ofboth Badelaire, and Prussian NavalSabre, cutlass for ratings c.1860s (Wagner, plate 47), and Saxon SeitengewehreShort Sword, and Baden Pioneer Short Sword (by W.SCHMOLZ & C°) – all followed this antique exampleof spectacular design & execution.
