L@@K! Iconic & Classic US Army Late WWII M-1943 Field Jacket Size 36R Fine+:
World War II U.S. Army Original Late Version M-1943 Field Jacket Pattern B Rare Maker - Hard-to-find - Sold As-Is The iconic US Army field jacket for WWII and Korea was the M-1943, Jacket, Field. It had some built in flaws (the cuffs always frayed after a time), but in spite of that the M-1943 was used extensively throughout the WWII in every theater and for many years after. The jacket is in fine to near very fine condition and has few, if any flaws or issues, and no rips or tears in the shell. The lining is near excellent shape! There is only moderate evidence of wear on the right the cuff.... this is a good thing in M-1943s. The left cuff does show the beginnings of a frayed spot about 3/4" long - which is a typical wear pattern for M-1943s. All tags and buttons are present. The inside drawstring is in excellent condition. The ONLY reason I did not rate this M-1943 overall very fine is because of the previously mentioned slight fraying of the left cuff and the pocket label is somewhat faded from laundering (see last photo). Note: Because this is a late version M-1943, it did not have the big white label inside the back collar that showed how to attach the separate hood. You can just see a very faded "40 R" about an inch below the hanging loop where you would normally expect to see the white label in the later versions. This example also has the very light olive colored lining in the button flap (see 5th photo) The pattern date is Oct. 11, 1943, the contract date is Nov. 15, 1943 and manufacturer is Dann Clothing Company. This example is the original type M-1943. NOTE: This jacket is being sold strictly as-is. There are 10 photos to explicitly show the condition that is described above. This jacket is not a reproduction, was made in the USA and is absolutely original to the period.
