An opportunity to own one of the most beautiful decorations in the American awards system. A gorgeous WW2 era Navy Distinguished Service Medal. This beauty is 100% right as rain with the correct wrap brooch and suspension ribbon. The badge features a beautiful deep blue enamel in the central surround which is repeated on the reverse. The deep toning and character are carried over on both obverse and reverse. The telltale thick suspension adjoining the badge to the star is indicative of a WW2 period strike. The badge also has a beveled edge as is correct and another tell of a period strike. Overall the medal is excellent with some minor wear on the suspension which to me indicates this was worn or displayed with great pride…it has that “been there” look. This is a great opportunity to add a scarce period DSM to your collection.
