Original & Unusual U.S. M1 Helmet Shell W/ WWII OD#7 Chinstraps Prototype/Clone?:
$300.00

Unique M1 Helmet This is an original, but highly unusual M1 helmet. This helmet differs from a standard U.S. M1 in a number of ways: firstly, instead of the rim consisting of a separate piece of steel, the helmet\'s edge is rolled inward (similar to that of a German M35 or M40); secondly, the helmet\'s fixed loops are tack welded directly to the helmet\'s rolled edge rather than beneath it; thirdly, it lacks a heat stamp; lastly it is of a generally thicker and heavier steel (it feels much more dense than a standard M1). It features original WWII U.S. OD#7 (green) chinstraps, riveted in place, and the interior is named to a \"J. H. White\".There does not appear to be consensus on these helmets within the collector community; some allege they are prototypes, while others claim they were made by either France or Belgium, as they have surfaced on both the .fr and .be websites (we sourced this from an antique store in Connecticut). Whatever the case may be, this is definitely a unique find, and is, in fact, the first example we have ever encountered.Use the larger picture option to view all the details of this item. Thanks for viewing a Circa1941 listing!Payment due within 3 days of sale\'s end!
