A robust and perfectly handling example with a straight, period sharpened blade and no movement in the hilt. It lacks a scabbard and the langet on the right side of the quillons is missing. The blade is oxidized but has no damage or any nicks. The wooden core of the grip is intact and, while pitted, the steel hilt is sturdy and solid. Maker on the spine seems to read "MOLE". The sword handles beautifully and quickly. Can be cleaned up to improve its presentation.Total length measured in a straight line: 95 cm or 37 1/2 inches.Blade length, following the curve: 83 1/2 cm or 32 3/4 inches.Blade width at ricasso: 40 mm.Blade width at foible: 43 mm.Maximum thickness: 8 mm.Weight: 833 grams.Point of Balance: 185 mm from hilt.It was recovered from an attic in France and is possibly a war trophy from the continental wars during emperor Napoleon.
