Rare C Roby Civil War Model 1840 Musicians Sword With Scabbard.:

Autioning Rare Civil war model 1840 musician sword with original scabbard made by Christopher Roby W Chelmsford Mass. Roby made these musicians swords from 1863 to 1865 they made about 3500 of these, this sword is dated 1863 first year of production. Sword has a 28 1/4 inch long blade is in its original white metal finish no rust or pitting no nicks or dings. Up next to guard stamped on one side of blade C. Roby W Chelmsford Mass on other side is stamped U.S. 1863 inspector marks F.S.S. same inspector marks stamped on guard. Cross guard and grip in excellent condition made of brass no nicks dings is tight to blade. Scabbard is made of leather is complete dose show that a repair was made at sometime in leather about mid way in scabbard. You will notice in one of photos of the drag has the inspector marks F.S.S. stamped in it.
