Rare Civil War Sword Bayonet Model 1841 - Heavy Battlefield Use (NO RESERVE) For Sale
Rare Civil War Sword Bayonet Model 1841 - Heavy Battlefield Use (NO RESERVE):
Rare Civil War sword bayonet, one of many variants for model 1841 Mississippi rifle conversions or other Civil War rifles. Shows significant wear on handle and mount from heavy use. Blade is still in good condition. Brass muzzle ring is bent from use. The ricasso is marked "Collins & Co." over an illegible "Hartford" over "N." and on the reverse is "1861". The brass guard has a small amount of movement. The blade has scattered age spots throughout with a little light surface rust. Lock button is functional but does stick. Length of the blade measures 19 5/8" (1 1/16" wide x 1/4" thick) and overall the bayonet is 24 1/4". The muzzle hole opening is 7/8". This bayonet has been in my family for three generations and was a prized possession. However, for the last 30 years it has been carefully stored away. I'm hoping now to find someone who can appreciate and care for this bayonet just as my family cared for it for many decades. See my other listings for other similar items.
