Up forsale is an original pair of period cabinet cards (measuringapprox. 4 ¼” x 6 ½” each) of Sgt. Joshua (Josh) Clay Fletcher and his wife MargaretGibson Bland Fletcher. Sgt. Josh Fletcher was recruited and enlisted by the legendaryCaptain (later General KIA) Turner Ashby on April 26, 1861, at the age of 19.Sgt.Fletcher served faithfully in Co. A, 7th Virginia Cavalry throughoutthe war, having five horses shot out from underneath him and was wounded oncein 1864. Fletcher was one of 12 men furloughed from the 7th VirginiaCavalry (led by James William Foster) who joined Mosby’s command to recruit horsesand was then invited to join Mosby’s men in the fight in Chantilly on March 24,1864. Major John Scott wrote in his 1867 book, “PartisanLife with Col. John S. Mosby:”
