Here is a superb example of a Civil War or early Indian War ammunition crate for Colt or Remington .44 Army Revolvers. The crate came from the Frankford Arsenal and is stenciled on all four sides. The two front panels read: “1200 Cartridges for Colt’s & Remington’s Revolvers Cal. .44”; one side reads “From Frankford Arsenal” and the other “Manufactured May 5th 1871”.


This crate is rock solid and retains its original paint and fasteners and is totally uncleaned. The graphics are great and readable and the size very manageable. In my opinion, these crates make the perfect display items.
