US Civil War Model 1840 Cavalry Sword with Scabbard. The ricasso is unmarked, no marks anywhere, looks German. The grip and pommel are tight, the guard moves. The knuckleguard has a lead repair that didn't hold. The leather grip is 85% complete. The twisted wire is 100% complete. The blade is unsharpened, some nicks on the lower half, has age spots scattered throughout, the last 1/8" of the tip has a slight curve. Washer is missing and there is some string wound in the area. The scabbard is solid with some dents/dings, has a lead seam, has surface rust freckles scattered throughout, and is a little tight on/off by the ricasso. Length of the blade is 36 1/8" (1 1/4" wide and 3/8" thick), the sword is 41 3/4", and in the scabbard it is 43".
