This is an Early US Artillery Officers Sword circa 1815 .The hilt is brass mounted with a few traces of gold gilding. It has an overalldark age patina. The grip looks like carved bone , but it could be the moreexpensive natural material. There is a small chip under the pommel butotherwise there are no cracks or chips. The curved blade is dark from age .There are gold filled designs , which indicates an officers sword. The overalllength is 35 “ with a 30 “ blade. No scabbard being of leather it is long gone.A very similar sword is illustrated and described in the BIBLE on US swords “THE AMERICAN SWORD 1775 – 1945 BY Harold Peterson page 39 item # 38.
