It was acquired by my mother 50 years ago along withseveral others that we will sale off this year.
Rt. Rev.Msgr. James Hugh O'Neill (January 14, 1892 -- April 17, 1972) was an AmericanCatholic priest who served as a chaplain in the United States Army from 1926 to1952, rising to the rank of brigadier general. While serving as chaplain of theThird United States Army during the Battle of the Bulge in World War II, hecomposed the famous "Weather Prayer" at the request of the ThirdArmy's commander, General George S. Patton.
The medal is1.5 inch long and weighs approximately 11 grams sterling. These would have beengiven out to soldiers as gifts.
