🔎 Ushanka hat is a winter fur, cloth or combined hat (originally for men), a widespread headdress in USSR."Ears" do not open because they are sewn from the inside according to the old military tradition of demobilized soldiers.
Ushanka got its name due to the presence of fold-down earflaps (headphones, “ears”), tied in a raised form at the top (crown) or at the back of the head with braid.
Ushanka is worn as it is convenient for a person, usually folded, that is, with the ears tied on the top of the head, but if necessary, the ears are lowered down along with the flap on the back of the head, protecting the ears and back of the head, as well as partially the cheeks and chin, from cold and wind a man wearing earflaps. Earmuffs can also be tied at the back of the head and under the chin.
A hat with earflaps, made of fur, was popularly called “Cheburashka” by some, by analogy with the cartoon character.
