SOME KNICKS ON THE BLADE AS SEEN IN THE PICTURES PROVIDED.

MISSING BOTTOM HANGER WIRE. I PUT A CHOP STICK IN TO HOLD IT IN PLACE FOR NOW IT WILL NEED TO BE REPLACED.

I have put several pictures up showing old small Knicks on the cutting edge IMO these are period marks made during service. Come to your own conclusions and view all the pictures also scabbard is missing a large section of its dark outer covering. IMO this is also from period use I believe it’s dry rot. The sword is thick and meaty clean and looks very good. The experimental steel really held up nicely. This is a meat cleaver of a sword.

Scabbard shows loss of RAY SKIN from use probably dry rot being a naval sword the blade is clean and bright however. One big fat thick blade.

A fine Japanese gunto This blade was manufactured from what “anti-corrosive steel”. The markings on one side of the tang is an anchor. Forged at the Tenshozan Forge”. The Tenshozan Forge produced gunto blades exclusively for the Japanese Imperial Navy. The blade is quite bright for its age. It is free of active rust.
