WW2 SCRAPBOOK LOT W/ DOCUMENTS, LETTERS, V-MAIL CARDS, PHOTOS, ORDERS. PA LOCAL.

This sale is for an awesome WW2 scrapbook lot. It contains 11.5 back to back pages (+ a page or two empty at the back) full of historical documents, orders, cards, letters, vmail, photos, etc! You can almost read it like a story, from 1942-44 or so. It tells the story of Homer Clinton Wickline, a native of Aspinwall Pennsylvania.

Before his registration, it seems homer was a teacher, organist, and heavily involved with his local church. This story begins with multiple registration cards, letters about the registration from his employer and the state board, and a proclamation of the selective services training act from the Pennsylvania Governor at the time- to name just a few things. The inside front cover features a good bye letter signed by either workplace or church friends. Multiple letters from his church, the Highland Presbyterian Church, feature heavily in this scrapbook. They give not only updates about Homer, but also stories about the other men in the congregation who are in the service.

It seems Homer was involved heavily with the defenses at Portsmouth, Virginia, as many documents relate to that. He also visited Boston, and New York. It seems he liked to go to organ concerts when he could, along with his fellow soldiers. Theres even a blank day pass presumably for him to see one. There are some photos, in mint unaged condition, of him and some fellow soldiers at a ball as well.

This scrapbook is so chock full of interesting things. Its really too much to describe, it really lets you get a feel for the man who painstakingly made it when he came home.

This is a unique one of a kimd item, in good vintage condition. The scrapbook cover and contents are in very good shape. The cover is a beautiful brown faux leather of some sort. With plaster (of some sort) decals adorning it. It has lifted up along a seam on the front, exposing some of the inside, but could likely be re-glued and made to disappear. The pages themselves, made of black paper, have aged and turned brittle at the edges. Some deterioration of the black paper has occurred around the edge, but not too much, and it remains good in the center. The cover has a lovely flower on some sort of leather or faux brown cover. The cover is still very supple, it has some cracking at the hinge, which is normal. The photographs are amazingly preserved, some look almost new. Most of the paper is well preserved, protected by the scrapbook all these years. Some of it even looks barely aged!

This lot is a great addition or start to any collection, piece for a museum or historical society (verified historical society and museums can get discounts- contact me!) display item, etc!
