WWII German Bayonet, 1938, Durkopp, Matching, Frog - Fine Blade:

German bayonet, scabbard and early frog for a 98k Mauser 8mm rifle.  Not a rusty Norwegian surplus bayonet but a collector grade piece  with only original German markings.  It was a war souvenir purchased by me from the vet 25 years ago.  I bought because the blade is near mint, with the machining precise and the blued finish is beautiful.

Made by Durkopp and dated 1938 with matching numbers 563 on original scabbard.  The frog is well marked and correct early type but not original to the set.

This is an exceptionally fine example, well marked, little pitting, and well made.  Almost all original finish remains on the factory sharpened blade.  Beautiful early war polish.  It was rarely if ever removed from it's scabbard and I only removed it once for photos since I purchased it.  A little dullness here and there on the pommel but no one ever used this as a hammer like so many were.  Perfect backstrap.

The early war style leather frog  is in very nice condition and remains supple.  The markings have worn off.

The grip panels look like Bakelite with no chips or cracks.

A true collectors piece in "as turned in" condition. Hardly any edge wear and markings are crisp. Most of the hundreds of 98k bayonets on were recently imported after being well re-used by Norway's national guard for years after after WWII, just as Norway sold thousands of repainted German WWII helmets to the US in the 1960s with most having replaced or refurbished liners.

Please study the photos carefully for visible condition.  Because of the risks of loss or damage I do not accept returns on one of a kind artifacts like this.  I do stand behind the originality and authenticity of my items if you contact me directly.

Enjoy the photos and thank you.
