WWII WW2 Japanese Army Officer Sword Gunto Katana Battle carry- Sakuseda 1500\'s:
$1275.00

This is a beautiful WWII Japanese sword, with a battle scarred scabbard from carry in combat during the island campaigns of WWII. Clear marks of being dragged on sharp rocks, many decades ago. With a close look, this scabbard tells a story of hard fighting in very harsh conditions, but the blade is corrosion free. There is a forging blemish on one side of the blade, visible in photos here. The last photo is zoomed in on the Signed area of the tang on the blade. This is what would be considered a \"Family\" blade, from what we were told when we had the signature analyzed. The signature is Sakuseda, although there were many that used that name from the 1500\'s to the 1700\'s. It is likely, that with the forging marks, this sword is from the feudal civil war period of the 1500\'sThe sword came from the estate of a former WWII Marine. His family claimed he told of his capturing this sword from the deceased Japanese Army Captain on the island of Tinian, but he fought all the way through the islands from the beginning to the end, so it is unclear what actual island it was captured from. It\'s handle has the stains of a hand holding it while running, and ducking fire from our Army and Marines in the punishing heat of the Pacific Islands, and combat. Eventually, he failed, and it came home to USAIt is dinged and dented and has been in intense combat in truly brutally harsh conditions. The blade itself has seen wars for hundreds of years. The blade has a nice Hamon pattern and has tiny bone nicks midpoint in the blade (less than 1/64\")
We have had it in our collection for a long time, with the many other swords here. I will ship FEDEX insured for total amount.
