a friend of mine is now the biggest importator in France of what we can't really call toys...these are high end toys for great children...There are high quality dolls made by Dragon also.
An interesting sentence quoted from him: "I started collecting 3rd reich clothing, but prices became so crazy that many collectors prefer invest their little money in such nice dolls to grab a kind of militaria collection". Not stupid, still a good way to please oneself (?) in collecting...

I do not have none of those from the pics above, nevertheless I have a few Dragon, only Soviet figures.
Very nice and realistic, personalised face for each new character, about 30-32cm, on scale set of accessories, weapons well detailed, a name for each figure... Some have Medals, for my toys only a couple of Combat Service and Bravery Medals. The 5-sided suspensions and ribbons are a bit too big, but the Medals themselves are nice minor plastic reproductions of the real ones. Seb, What a pitty your friend isn't my friend Interesting topic. I believe all my life I've had this attraction to collecting. I've tried to collect every kind of stuff, from matchboxes to tickets, or books, games, plastic kits, plants, WWII metal airplanes... wives... Most of the time I gave up early, others I've been further, there are cases of stuff left behind in so many home changings... I guess collecting is a state of mind, a predisposition, maybe just a mania :-) Dolf |

A revolution sailor with Maxim machine gun
This is an only Soviet toy I have.
I found it on the beach of an island at Gulf of Finland in 1989. It was there middle of the all possible waste that can come from the sea. I am not 100% sure that is made in Soviet Union, but I have always think that maybe it has came by sea from beyond the Iron Curtain... Jussi-Pekka |

The pics I currently have are not, as usual with digital cameras, of great quality, so I'll try to do better pics and post them. Althought if you do some google research on Dragon Action Figures 1/6 you'll find a lot of interesting info, sites, good pics...
Anyway, just as a sample, here is one of my favourites: Captain Alexei Petrovich Komarov, a Soviet NKVD Officer, Internal Security (as announced in the box). As I know nothing about uniforms I can't obviously tell about the respect for the details and authenticity, but I can tell it looks nice and convincing for a 30cm improved "Action Joe" with the jacket made on a nice fake leather kind of material, etc... Alexei mentioning the "book" to Yuri, a Red Army Rifles NCO Sergeant, carrying a Medal for Combat Service. Well, the box situates Alexei in Berlin 45 and Yuri in Leningrad 41, but I guess no harm in putting them together Dmitri, a Seaman of the Soviet Naval Infantry from the Black Sea Fleet (Sevastopol 42) and Sergeant Vassily, a Red Army Tank Commander (Kursk 43). Private Sasha, a Red Army Rifleman and Sergeant Anna, Red Army NCO, Traffic Control Branch. Finally, from left to right, Senior Sergeant Nikolai, Soviet 38th Army NCO, Kiev 43 (awarded with a Medal for Combat Service ) then Sergeant Boris, Red Army LMG Gunner, Ukrainian Front 43-44 (awarded with the Medal for Bravery ) and Private Vladimir, a Red Army Scout, Austria 45. This is not really part of my "military collecting", just new improved Action Joes
The coolest thing is that they are dressed on a Soviet uniform/looking like one, so that can actually mix with the military collecting, help display pieces. These are just miniatures after all, which is one topic I enjoy. I guess it's not why The Lord of the Rings is one of my favourite books ever however I've been also collecting Metal aircraft of WWII, of most nations involved, mostly fighters but also a few bombers. This collection composed of a total of 50 aircraft is being sold at my knowledge in a few European countries, France, Spain, Portugal at least. Each new piece comes every two weeks. In Portugal we are now on # 34. And this particular aircraft is one of the reasons I started this collection (even thought my favourite fighter from WWII is the German Messerschmitt BF 109, for its design and dogfights performances ). But this one is also a very nice aircraft. This is the Polikarpov I-16, that as far as I know started flying in 1933. They started being delivered in the autumn 1934, then in the autumn 35 and the last delivery might have happened early in 1942. During the Civil War in Spain (where I suppose it saw action for the 1st time) 475 were delivered to the Republicans. Because of its great performances while climbing or diving, the enemies (the Nationalists) nicknamed it "Rata" (feminin for Rat) but the Republicans nicknamed it "Mosca" (Fly, the insect). This particular aircraft shown here is the Polikarpov I-16 Type 24 from the 72nd Mixt Regiment (whatever that means!), apparently part of the North Airfleet (not sure if this is the right word in english!) based at Murmansk in 1940. It was flown by Captain Boris Safonov, one of the Soviet Aces with 17 victories, died on May 30, 1942. Well, I know that on the left side it's writen "Za Stalina" (For Stalin), but I don't know what's writen on the right side! Can any of the Russian language members help translate those words? Thanks in advance. Dolf |
