Re: GPW color(ized) photos
If nothing else, I've learned to copy a few of the better photos and post them.
At the same time, I think this is as good a place as any to point out that there are a number of very inexpensive CDs of hundreds and sometimes thousands of reproduced (legally) propaganda posters and the occasional photos from just about any era of the Soviet Union. I've bought three different discs (each under $5 with free shipping) from different sellers and though my original intent was to use them for my web page, there are simply too many and too wide a variety of subject matter to just use for myself. I have only sorted through about one-third of the images and I'll pick a few of the more interesting ones elsewhere. These collections may have been available before, but I wasn't looking. Very interesting stuff and because they are simply digital "photocopies" of original posters, there is no copyright infringement in posting them, according to the lengthy legal citations on each disc. Granted, there are a number of anti-US military aggression propaganda pieces (see missiles in Europe below), but from an historical perspective I think they are very important. Here are just a few different types to give everyone an idea of what's on these. Phillip

And another three - including one that suggests that the Space Shuttle program was originally intended as a military space supremacy weapon (which it could have been when it was launched during some of the worst times of the Cold War for all most of us will ever know).
Phillip - The Stalingrad "Blow to Hitler" poster is one of my favorites.
