Avers8 shows only 2 versions. One the 1942-43 version with the H&S in the star and the other a "43-87" version. Yours is neither.
I've got some badges books I've got to look through. Maybe I can find some more infos. The Arapetian book has 10 different versions and yours might be anywhere from 1945 to 1980, IMO. Yours has a Moscow Victory Factory-marked screwplate, right? Toss this: ЗНАК КОМАНДИР ПОДВОДНОЙ ЛОДКИ into google translate and see what you can find. :)

Re: Submariner Badge Authentication and Date
Yes, it is a victory factory nut.
Thanks for the translation, it appears to be a legit piece but maybe an exact date might be hard to pin down. I paid the price the fakes go for so I'm happy. I'll see if there are any cleanups that can be done and otherwise leave it as is. Using your text I found this thread on a Russian site http://sammler.ru/index.php?showtopic=88006 The one I have seems a earlier version of the screw post base, but I can't tell. They mention a " type 8 to Hayrapetyan ". is this a reference text for which this one appears to be the 8th listed version? THis is the one you mention as Arapetian? "Breast Badges of the Red Army, 1941-1945". B. V. Airapetyan. C. 2004 Moscow. "Collector's Library" series. In Russian, hard cover, 175 pp. Handy 6x9" format. ???? I would actually like to have one of these in good shape, but again, I so rarely see them it might be a lone wait. Last edited by meyerse; 05-11-2012 at 01:59 AM. |

Re: Submariner Badge Date
This one appears to have an ''oxidized'' finish as opposed to a standard shinny metal finish? Or is it just warn....
