Badge "Excellent In The Socialist Competition In The Publishing Industry".

Bought this in Tashkent for 80$, the highest I have ever paid for a badge. But it is in excellent condition and has a low no. 411.
Does anyone know what this is for?

Nice badge!

The inscription says: "Winner of Socialist Compertition in Publishing Industry".

Names on the small red books are Stalin, Lenin, Marx and Engels.

Not surprisingly Stalin's book is the top one, even higher up than Lenin's!

It's probably pre-war issue.

Very nice badge. It's listed in AVERS 2 for 40$, so it have to be more expensive. I think 80$ is a fair price for this rare badge. In AVERS they list this as a from 1948 produced badge. But I think they are wrong because the work look 1930-40-ties to me. It would not be the first time AVERS would be wrong...

I think it's mid-late 30-ties, but I could be as wrong as the price in an AVERS catalogue;)
