Forum Member Obituaries.
centaur32, aka Jim Dedman, died of a heart attack in Australia two weeks ago. Jim flew three tours in Vietnam as a UH-1 helicopter pilot (gunships mainly) before leaving the service in 1969. He ended up in Iran training their pilots to fly American helicopters, before then heading on to Australia where he worked as a test pilot for a firm selling demilitarized Communist-bloc helicopters to various Southeast Asian countries before retiring again.
I met Jim here on this forum and enjoyed swapping and collecting Soviet patches with him. His wife emailed me of his untimely death. Jim was a good and extremely generous man and now collecting the patches just doesn't have the same luster. Anyhow, I wanted to pass on the news. |
