Russian song about awards

An old Russian friend was telling me about a WW2/post-war song that goes something like this: a girl tells her man she will marry him if he earns an order in the war. He comes back with a medal. Not quite good enough, but the girl takes him anyway. Happy ending

Anybody know which song I'm talking about? (My retelling isn't great, sorry.)

It's probably "Don't Cry, Girl" which won 1971 Song of the Year award. The song includes a couplet:

Our company Sergeant
Has orders,
I've got it all ahead of me,
But you, love, accept
Excellent badges
Which are crowded on the chest.

Maybe wrong, because I have never checked the lyrics, but the story somehow makes me think of "On the sunny glade". I currently don't remember if this was soviet song or imperial russian, but it was quite often performed by the Alexandrov Choir.
