Honourary Medal "Fighter For Peace".
First time that I see this. Please help in MORE information. This is the description:
"Soviet medal "To the fighter for the peace" awarded to Polar explorer, President of Soviet Geographic Society, USSR Hero academician A. Treshnikov in 1970. Brass medal" Interesting: recipient name is written in GOLD ink:

This is the so called International Peace Medal, awarded by the Soviet Piece Commitee. I believe it's from 1960s. Made of gold-plated brass. I will try to find some more information about it. Alexei |

the word is 'PEACE'.
This is the International Peace Medal, awarded by the Soviet Peace Commitee.

Well, the peace medal mentioned in the beginning of this thread was sold at ebay for the first time for about $95.00 (including the document).
Now it is on sale again, by the new owner, at a start price of "just" $199.00:( Very strange - this medal and document had Disappeared from ebay without any explanation. Tal

Any ideas what this medal is for. Bought it recently, awarded to Alexei Feadrovich Treshnikov, Member of the Soviet Academy of Sciences and Arctic Explorer (got this info from Arctic Research Centre at the University of Cambridge)
