Badge "60th Anniversary Of Victory"

This is by far the best I have seen. I only have a photo of it but the photo is awesome.

Neat! I'm talking with the printer now on printing a book with over 350 veteran znachki in it. This would have been neat to include.

This new book will be very interesting, even though such a project can probably never be complete. Publish what you know and fill the gaps in the second edition. ;)

I've already got about another 40-50 that will go into the second edition... And yes, no publication will ever be "comprehensive" of these badges, especially when they're still making them.

This would have been nice for a front photo for the book.

I have one of these on the way from Belorussia now- expect arrival within two weeks; I agree, it's probably the nicest looking of the veteran badges I've seen.

I haven't seen the Russian text from which you've taken this, but the Russian "kombat" is actually an abbreviation for "battalion commander".

This well-known picture shows Junior Politruk (equivalent of Lieutenant, 2 squares on collar) A.G. Yeremenko, company politruk in the 220th Rifle Regiment, 4th Rifle Division, summer 1942.

Just received the badge as pictured earlier in this thread yesterday. Very nice piece; the engraving is pure quality. One aspect not readily apparent in the scan is that the flag to the soldier's left is the flag of Beylorussia SSR (Belarus). It is a two-piece badge with a reverse relief. The pieces are assembled with, perhaps, epoxy as there are no rivets or prongs. It is screw backed. There is a "sister" badge to this for the 20 Year Anniversary of the Belarus Military Academy Polytipic (?) Faculty which I also have coming (I like complete sets). It's apparently primarily a one piece version of the same badge- the second piece is only the "20". I've included a scan of the badge here.

As has been said, these badges are available on that auction site we all love and there is a seller who is offering a great deal of items from Belarus (e-mail me and I will give you the store name). In this catalog, there are several Soviet badges and medals listed as copies. These items show a great attention to detail and are as outstanding a group of "copies" as I have seen. I wonder if the really good fakes we're seeing these days are being produced in Belarus? They seem to have this art down pat.
