Comrade Jakovenko, I. Z. from the first days of the Patriotic War located at the front. Until September 1941 in the position of deputy head of staff 45th Battalion Of Aerial Surveillance, Warning And Communications and from September 1941 to the current time in the position of head of 3rd Units, Staff of the brigade of Anti-Aircraft Defence. Comrade Jakovenko in difficult and tense combat situations showed courage, steadfastness and skill in the struggle with German Occupiers.
At the approaches to Odessa Comrade Jakovenko not only clearly and greatly lead the operational work of the staff of the 45th Battalion Of Aerial Surveillance, Warning And Communications, also organised the front line by personal example inspiring fighters in the war with Romanian-German Invaders. On the Kerch' peninsula, working as head of 3rd Unit, Staff of the Brigade of Anti-Aircraft Defence, with work always treating it with conscientiousness and accuracy, gave all his force for clear work of 3rd Unit and helped the command of the brigade in leading units of the brigade.
In the last days of tense battle for the Kerch' Peninsula in the region of Enikale Lighthouse, Comrade Jakovenko organised the personal staff of the management of the brigade on the held line of defence, by personal example organised the collection of weapons, ammunition on the field of battle and entrenching. By the order of the command he organised and personally supplied the crossing of the personal staff of management of the brigade and documents of the staff, thanks to which 85% of the personal staff crossed to the Taman Peninsula. Comrade Jakovenko is quite worthy of the Governmental Award Medal "For Combat Merits".
