Tanker? Paratrooper? Strange winter uniform

This photo is dated 1951. The clothing he is wearing looks similar to the much later period two-piece tanker coveralls, but seems to be in a color different than black (similar to the gimnasterka he wears underneath).
Also, the pockets on his trousers don't look like on tanker's loathing, more like on M81 field uniforms.
The only uniform listed in the all-army regulations that looked similar was introduced in 1974.
Who is he? Tanker? Pilot? Paratrooper?
