Grouping to an 82nd Airborne, 504th Parachute Infantry Regiment, I Company Private who was KIA in Holland. He made the famous Waal River crossing near Nijmegen and was sadly KIA on the bridge.
A fantastic group to a Distinguished Service Cross, BB&B Silver Star, Bronze Star and Purple Heart, American Campaign. EAME ribbon and WWII Victory recipient. Official hand engraved.
Jump jacket is in very good condition with only slight fraying around the bottom hem. Main zipper is Talon and knife pocket zips are Kwik. No tag remains but jacket is 36-38. The soldiers name and serial number are stenciled large on the inside, back of the jacket. His first initial of his last name and last four of his serial number are written and also stamped small inside as well. The 82nd patch is hand stitched and has lost several threads on one bottom corner, shows that it has been on the jacket since the war.
Pin back, sterling marked jump wings, Screw back Enlisted Infantry collar insignia, pin back EAME ribbon, one light blue parachute infantry overseas cap patch and one para-glider cap patch, one die. Two Italian Lira military script that were found folded in the knife pocket.
There are several pages of internet research that include a photo of the trooper, the DSC citation, a photo of his grave marker and copy of a newspaper article from the period.
