Stunning Extremely rare Zouave Jacket bearing crescent moon insignia, likely worn at Inspection Parades or other Special Social Functions. Very unique piece, in over 50 yrs we have not encountered a similar example. An Absolutely Magnificent piece of our History that remarkably looks like it was hardly worn. Folks, finding these old pieces is becoming more & more difficult and almost Never In This CONDITION. Both the Confederate and Union armies had regiments of fierce Zouave fighters. Adapted the Zouave-styled uniform in the Crimean Wars in the mid-1850s, military units in the United States were styling themselves as Zouave soldiers as there were over 70 Regiments. Tag and jacket would make for a Beautiful & Envious display.
