CIVIL WAR CONFEDERATE CAVALRY BROWN SLOUCH HAT - 8th TEXAS VOLUNTEER CAVALRY with Texas Star Brass Pin & Regt. No. 8
This is my old very good condition Confederate Cavalry Slouch Hat for the famous 8th Texas Volunteer Cavalry Regt. / Wheeler\'s Cavalry Corps. It comes with the Golden Yellow Cavalry Hat Tassles and Cord ($15 from Sutlers), the Texas Brass Star Hat Pin ($10 from Sutlers) & the No. 8 Brass Regiment Hat Number ($5 from Sutlers). It is a size 7 1/8. I wore this Slouch Hat in the 1999 Civil War Cavalry Movie, \"Ride with the Devil\", in the battle scenes of the Confederate Cavalry Charge on Lawrence, Kansas by Quantrell\'s Cavalry Division. Also in the subsequent Cavalry Battle with the Federal Kansas Cavalry after the Confederate Raid on Lawrence, Kansas. The 8th Texas Cavalry served in a number of Civil War Battles. The Battles of Knoxville, Tenn. The Battle of Stones River. The Cavalry Battles on the flanks of Chickamauga, Georgia. The Skirmish of the Crossing of Pumpkin Vine Creek. The Battle of New Hope Church, the Battle of Pickett\'s Mill and the Battles on the flanks of the Battle of Dallas. The Battle of Lost Mountain. The Defense of Big Shanty Station. Then the Battles all around the Northeast flank of Kennesaw Mountain in Marietta, Georgia. The 8th Texas Cavalry also resisted the Army of the Cumberland crossing the Chattahoochee River. Gen. Wheeler\'s Cavalry Division then moved into Northern Alabama to attack Sherman\'s train supply lines. The 8th Texas Cavalry finally moved into North Carolina and surrendered at Bentonville, North Carolina after the final Battle.
