A very nice Dutch Model 1876 cavalry officer sword made by "M. Pauwels & Co, Amsterdam & Rotterdam" and etched as such on the blade. This is a light and lively sword modeled on the Prussian Model 1852 cavalry sword, having an identical guard, grip, and pre-'79 blade. The blade is likely a Solingen blade. The blade on this sword is in beautiful clean, bright, unsharpened condition. The guard and scabbard have uniform patina and shagreen is complete, although some grip wire is loose/missing. All rock-solid with no movement. Ricasso has "2 ZZ" engraved into it.
Sword blade is 33". The sword is 39" and weighs 1 lb 9 ounces.
