German Hindenburg Cross for WW 1

The Hindenburg Cross or “Cross of Honor” (\'Ehrenkreuz desWeltkrieges 1914-1918\') was established in 1934 by Reichspräsident Paul vonHindenburg to recognize and commemorate service during the First World War. Individuals had to apply to the government to receive the medal. Here I am offering two versions of the cross, one for combatants (with swords) and one for next-of-kin for widows and parents (black medal with no swords). The combatant version has the letters “WD 1 on the back, the medal for next of kin has a figure accompanied by “11” on its reverse. I have enjoyed having them in my collection for many years and the time has come to pass them on to another collector.
