Kazan Military School [1] (until September 1, 1909 it was called the Kazan Infantry Junker School ) is a military educational institution of the Russian Army of the Armed Forces of the Russian Empire , which trained infantry officers

The school was founded on September 1, 1866 (based on the order of the military department of September 20, 1864 No. 285) at the headquarters of the Kazan Military District with a staff of 200 people (2 companies ). It trained officers for two divisions stationed in the district, and also trained cadets from the troops of the Moscow district , who, due to the lack of vacancies , could not be accepted into the Moscow cadet school [3] . The battalion commander of the Alexander Military School, Lieutenant Colonel A.V. Loboda, was appointed head of the school .


In 1870, the staff of the school was increased to 300 cadets [3] , by 1876 it was increased to 400 cadets (comprising 4 companies) [4] , and with the outbreak of the First World War - to 600 cadets [3] .


For feats accomplished in the Russian-Turkish War of 1877-1878. , nine graduates of the Kazan Junker School were awarded the Order of St. George . In 1903, the cadet school was awarded the Banner . For heroism in the Russo-Japanese War of 1904-1905. 14 graduates of the cadet school were awarded the Order of St. George [5] .


In 1909, the Kazan Junker School was transformed into a military school. Until its disbandment on November 6, 1917, the school was located on the territory of the Kazan Kremlin [2] . Over the years, about 25 thousand officers graduated from the walls of the school.
