VERY RARE & UNUSUAL HUGE WWII German Death Card & Funeral Invitation Sent by Mother

Still has Original Cancelled Stamp and Mailing Address

DESCRIPTION:VERY RARE& UNUSUAL HUGE WWII German death card and funeral invitation, with original postmarked stamp and mailing address. It was actually sent!!!

Specifically,\"Max Simmer, Obergefreiter and squad leader in a Grenedier regt, after 4 years of faithful service on the field of honor on the Eastern Front, died a hero\'s death on July 25, 1944, aged 22 for his homeland and the Fatherland. He lies buried in a grave in enemy ground. A hero\'s holy funeral service will be held on Sunday, Sept. 24, 1944, at 9:30, in the Tais church.\" Signed by his mother at the bottom, Marie Simmer, his mother.Nice large photo in uniform.

This is a very rare card, not only due to its size, and not only that it announces a funeral service in addition to the death notice function. Part of the size was so that it could be folded in half and mailed as an invitation. THIS ONE WAS ACTUALLY MAILED AND HAS A CANCELLED HITLER STAMP AS WELL AS THE HANDWRITTEN ADDRESS OF THE PERSON IT WAS SENT TO!!! A very rare card for the serious collector, and I have only seen one other like this with a stamp and address.

Card is in excellent condition.

Original card over 75 years old, and a nice picture and story of a soldier who otherwise would be a forgotten statistic.

No additional postage with multiple card purchases.
