DISPOSING(SLOWLY) OF A VERY LARGE, LIFELONG COLLECTION OF POCKET

KNIVES. ONLYPOSTING A COUPLE A DAY SO BOOKMARK ME FOR FUTURE REFERENCE.


NOTE - no attempt has been made to polish, clean or otherwise make this knife more attractive for photos. Wiped over with an oily rag!


A vintage (most likely 1940’s/World War 2) fighting knife with no maker’s mark and interesting offset grind to the blade (see photos) with stacked leather grips, complete with sheath. Fairly sure this is a Sheffield made item – but with no markings at all, tough to tell for sure,

Measures approximately 11 3/8 inches long overall, point to pommel end. Dagger profile, double edged blade measures approximately 6 7/8 inches long, point to cross guard, measured in a straight line. Blade grind commences at opposite sides of the ricasso – difficult to describe but see photos – must have been a b**ch to grind. Steel cross guard. Stacked leather grips. Weighted gray metal pommel, possibly lead – places the CG back to approximately halfway along the grips. Someone went to a lot of trouble producing this knife for a specific (fighting) purpose. Supple leather sheath with securing strap and pop fastener. A name has been cut into the rear. Blade clean with scratching and some light staining. Appears to have been deliberately dulled – no polish. Tip slightly rounded – no attempt made to grind it back to a point. Grips good with nice patina to the leather. Pommel good – as noted, possibly lead. Sheath good, securing strap has a tear which has significantly weakened it.
