The card is signed by the Commanding Officer and the Vice Admiral, U.S. Navy Commander Of Joint Task Force One.


Operation Crossroads was ordered by the joint Chiefs of staff in mid-1946 at Bikini Atoll, Marshall Island. The purpose of the test was to investigate the effect of the Atomic Bomb on naval vessels. This is marked as the first nuclear weapons test and detonation of nuclear devices since the atomic bombing at Nagasaki in 1945 and is considered to be \"the world\'s first nuclear disaster\". As of 2015, due to radioactive contamination, Bikini Atoll remains uninhabited.
