RARE WWII German Death Card FOR Young Soldier Killed in Action in HOUSE-TO-HOUSE FIGHTING in Meximieux, North of Lyon (France)

DESCRIPTION:RARE WWII German death card for a soldier who was KIA in house-to-house fighting in Meximieux, 30 km north of Lyon, France.

Specifically:

"Obergefreiter Karl Gerl, farmer's son, veteran of the campaign in Russia, who was killed in action on Sept. 1, 1944, aged 21, in house to house fighting in Meximieux, 30 km northwards of Lyon (France)." Full page photo in uniform.

Card is in excellent condition.

Original card over 80 years old, and nice pictures and story of a young soldier who otherwise would be a forgotten statistic.
