Admiral and officer caps
#11
Here is a close up picture on the cockarde.

And yes, I can see the difference between the two cockades. In reference book 1989, the advanced one is the one in the book.
So, this cap looks real if there is different types of cockades.

Komandir RKKA Wrote:The admiral cap badge with alluminium cocarde wasn't existed in Soviet Navy at all.
The embroided Navy officer's cap badge also should have complicated brass cocarde.
If you have embroided cap badge (doesn't metter admiral or officer) with alluminium cocarde - you have a fake.

We are all entitled to our opinions; on this point I'll have disagree with you. I do not think all aluminum cap badges for the Soviet naval officer / admirals caps were fake, and as Charlet states I think these are 1980's production.

The button on the admiral cap says something like "MшTAMп" and 89.

It is the parade type and I see no problems with it. I have six admirals caps, both summer and winter type - all worn and without ANY traces of doctoring - of the same era and they have the very same type of cockade. The service cockade is smaller, it does not have the additional embroidery on the sides. This can be seen in the 1989 book as well.

I would be very surprised if the mid-section of these cockades would have been strictly brass in the 1980s when most, if not all, period produced headgear insignia was made from aluminum.

Ok.

Look at the details on the anchor. My cap is more simle than the cockarde from the book and the cockarde kommandir IKKA show us. The chain is seperated from the anchor and my cap is easier. There is perhaps not any problems with that, but can you please check your caps Tretov? Wich type are they?

Here are three caps of the same era (1984, 1988, 1979) I have. The anchor line is part of the anchor, not a separate piece. The brass badge posted by the commander is an earlier issued badge (which I would not mind to own).

Thank you for the pictures!

Ok, I think it depends on wich factory that have produced the caps and wich year. So the caps are not fake. I think, and hope.

... and some more. They're all the same...with the exception for the 1950s cap with officers cockade. It has a separate anchor line.

One more question.
As I can see there is two different types of cockades on the admiral caps. The upper leaf of one of the "grow" up (like my cap) and the other one goes down (ex. your 1979 cap). Different producers or significant for different years?

I hope you understand the question.

I understand but I do not know. Usually when there are differences in Soviet productions, may it concern awards, badges, uniforms, whatever, the answer tend to be different producers and/or significant for different years. I know it sounds vague but the same goes all over this place. That, together with a geografically widespread country and the personal mind of individuals is why I am reluctant to relying strictly on regulations.

I am sure there are different opinions, but I do not doubt any of my caps and I don't have any doubt over yours either. I do own one or two caps that are fakes/high quality reproductions and the difference is quite obvious.

I do want to add that my initial dating was somewhat off - the officers cap is more likely 1970s than 1960s, as Lapa said. I was surprised that the admiral cap was as "recent" as the late 1980s.
