Badge "50 Years Of The Soviet Procurator".

This is an official anniversary badge of the public prosecutor's office and, as such, was probably an award badge though I don't know the criteria. Brass and hot enamel construction from the LMD. This example has had it's pin repaired/replaced somewhere along the line. Looks not so good but works well enough.

These are/were readily available for a reasonable price. I have a couple with one converted to a screwback for reasons unknown to me. I also recall having an award document for the 60th anniversary with the same badge design only having a 60 in place of the 50. I have no idea if such a badge was ever created, but perhaps someone here knows more. I collect procurator/prosecutor items, but they are on the fringe of my focus - now that I have a tighter one:rolleyes: - so I do not know as much as I would like about the whole award system.

Very nice stuff, Phil. The bulk of my legal collection resides in Pridnestrovie/Transnistria items... come to think of it, this is the only Soviet piece in that vein that I have. The price was right and I jumped ;-)

Thanks Greg. Those are old photos before I hit the wall - the badge that I doubt I will own: the much coveted "Honored Employee of the State Procurator Office." I've seen those things as expensive as OLs and at the very least, twice the price of any KGB badge.
