Soviet Badge “Honored Worker Of The Procuracy” - 1981-91
**I believe this to be a genuine unissued badge that has crudely had the issue № 12 engraved on the reverse. I do not believe that this engraving is original. The lowest number I was able to find was issue № 0068 (see attached) which retains the four digit format. The differences in engraving style and quality can be seen.

Award Badge “Honored Worker of the Procuracy”
On 28 April 1981, a departmental award for employees of the Procuracy was established: the breast badge “Honored Worker of the Procuracy.” According to the official statute, the badge was awarded to personnel who had served in the Procuracy system for at least ten years and had demonstrated strong work performance, exemplary fulfillment of their duties, initiative, efficiency, and other qualities that strengthened prosecutorial oversight, contributed to solving and preventing crimes, reinforced socialist legality, and improved the organization of Procuracy operations.
The badge was awarded by order of the Prosecutor General of the USSR. Recipients of the “Honored Worker of the Procuracy” badge received certain advantages, including:
• early promotion to the next class rank or assignment of a higher class rank than normally allowed for their position.
• priority access to sanatorium and rest‑home vouchers.
• preferential consideration when being allocated housing distributed by the Procuracy.
• eligibility for a personal salary rate.
This badge was comparable in stature to the highest honors granted in other branches of Soviet internal security, including the titles of Honored State Security Employee and Honored MVD Employee, this decoration stood at the very top of the militia system. It remained exceptionally rare throughout its ten year existence and was awarded to only about fifteen hundred individuals, each recognized for long service, discipline and an unbroken record of professional reliability.
