Dear Dietrich,

Interesting! Could you please scan the front of it.

Hello Alexei,
here is the front of the 2-part (actually 3-part including hanger) artist badge. I thought its scan would not look any different than the earlier ones shown in this thread but maybe some quality improvement is apparent.

Processing the nickel-colored section separately from the multicolored badge and then attach it later might actually have been a process simplification. It is not easy to deposit all the different metals and enamels on the same piece.

Dietrich,

Thanks. This was actually the reason why I wanted to see the front. Yours does look better made, and the construction became more complicated. Could it be that over time this badge became a more prestigious award?

I ran across a document in my collection that is for the badge entitled "Excellent Patron of Culture in the Military Forces of the USSR" (Otlichnik = Excellent for my translation) It's a nice little book, and is basically like an order book, just smaller. It references the above badge, and the badge was numbered 2776. Has anyone seen one of these badges before?

Thanks!

Hi to all,

i think u all know and saw this kind of badge, me also. But what makes it interesting is that this badge has hand engraved serial number ( 9906 ) and award document. I have seen this kind of badges before, but i have never seen that they are numbered and with document. Does someone have also something similar ? How many of this numbered badges exist ? Award booklet is saying taht only 3000 of this kind of books are printed.

Waiting for reply

Lauri

i'm not the best photographer this is kind a new to me ( just got the digital ). Anyway i made the PICS little bit brighter. The cover is saying KNIZHKA NAGRUDNOGO ZNAZKA OTLITSNIK KULTURNOGO SHEVTSVA NAD VOORUZENNAMI SILAMI SSSR.
Just want to know, does anyone have seen this badge with nr and award booklet ?

Lauri,

Very nice badge and document. I have never seen the document or a numbered badge. In fact, I have never seen one of these badges in person!

Isn't this the badge for an excellent entertainer of Soviet troops? An honorary thank-you item for donating one's time and talent to troop morale. I have never seen a book for this badge, but I have 3-4 of the badges myself. I don't recall if any of them are numbered. I'll have to look when I get home. I generally keep them with either my "arts and theater" badges or my general "otlichnik" badges. As I recall (which is getting increasingly more difficult), there are metal and plastic variants.
