I have hardly ever seen a case for a Soviet Union award. The collectors of medals of other countries are much more into the cases or even envelopes issued with the awards. But here is a fancy case for an Outstanding Medic Badge. I wonder what is special about this badge for it to deserve this luxurious packaging.
Since bages like this were issued by a specific organization and not the state or Ministry of Defence (I can't see who issued this one though), it would be up to that organzation to decide how fancy (read expensive) to make the badge and case. The issuers of this badge must have been both very proud of its status and rather flush with cash at the time to go for such a nice design.

Thanks for your responses, Rusty and Shawn,
I better show you the badge a little closer because the badge seems to be made for display in its case not for wearing. The badge by itself is not that impressive, it does not even have a serial number.
