Laurent Wrote:On E now... Ambassador's winter great coat
Never seen this type of uniform before; is it a put together or could it be genuine?
BIN: USD 300.-
Laurent,
To start with, this is not a winter, but a summer coat. I have recently been offered unused embroidery (cuffs and collar) for both black and white full-ambassador and first-secretary uniforms. I believe that they were original - most likely late 80's production - and I would tend to say that they were possibly somewhat better made that these, although you cannot compare 1950's and 1980's production quality.
To me, the coat seems to be made up using a naval coat for instance.

This uniform is back on E, but this time with another picture. As you can see there are 4 buttons, so I don't think the coat is simply a naval coat (they have only 2 buttons). Just a guess
I have decided to have this third thread, along with our threads on Medical uniforms and our thread on Legal uniforms, 'stuck'. I cleaned it up a bit and hope it really becomes a guide for collectors.
